Gucci Cruise 2011

Gucci releases another glossy campaign for Gucci cruise 2011. A little same-same for my liking but yet shooting in front of their own billboard is quite clever. You may know that this is Nikola Jovanovic's third Gucci campaign, this time joined by Raquel Zimmermann and photographed by Mert & Marcus.

The styling really is fantastic, natural tones and easily wearable combinations. Note how there is no brand overkill. One logo is enough to carry the statement that you can afford it. 

Marc Jacobs quilted high-tops

Following a legion of design houses releasing high-top sneakers (Vuitton and Gucci just to name two) Marc Jacobs has released his own version. I think out of all that I've seen these are the nicest and most understated. Certainly a pair that would look great however you wore it. The neon straps from Vuitton, however nice are limiting.



In fact, Marc Jacobs has a history with the quilted effect as it carries into his menswear from the very popular quilted bags he designs for ladies-wear. The burgandy/blood red high tops were available last year for $600 but I imagine like those, the new ones will sell out fast too. They are however just a preview so keep your eyes peeled for a release date.

Menswear goes spotty: Leopard prints in 2010

The Fashion scene seems to be going further back for inspiration. For whatever reason they stopped at Animal prints and decided this would look cute. I'm still deciding. However I am, as I've divulged many times before, a huge Paul Smith fan (I follow him on twitter). He has released motorbike helmets before but these are super fun in a leopard spot. The helmet is only suitable for mopeds up to the speed of 125cc. It is finished with Paul Smiths signature logo featuring at the bottom of the helmet. It's quite similar to the Stephen Sprouse spot used for Louis Vuitton's stole craze which Hollywood is going mad for.




I personally wouldn't mind both of the above mentioned items however it might look odd, me driving around in my car with a yellow helmet on my head. But the trend has not ended with Smith-- both Fashion giants Burberry and Gucci have gone ahead with including the print in their very latest 2010 showings.



And of course, Africa thanks Keri Hilson for wearing a Leopard print jacket in the Soccer tribute video she recently shot with Akon. How nice of her! Flowers, someone quickly!

Campaign Preview | Gucci Spring 2010

Summer is here, at least for Southern Africans. And since we're delayed by a few months in most season deliveries I guess this Gucci preview for 2010 means we're actually ahead! HA!

The cruise campaign as seen below was a strong indicator as to how the mega-brand wanted to show off their new ranges. Ultimately glam-less compared to the last season. Modelled by Ryan Kennedy, Natasha Poly and Snejana Onopka.
