Spence launch their online boutique
Last Thursday I attended the launch of Spence. With my friend Amy in tow we rushed to the small but media filled gathering that included Andrew Berry of WE-ARE-AWESOME and foodie David Cope.
The launch was wonderfully organized by Carey Townsend from Girl About Town PR and situated at the very cool "Field office". As for the launch itself, Spence is an online boutique that offers labels like Christopher Strong, Adriaan Kuiters and Missibaba to name just three. And not only is it completely useful to buy fashion in the comfort of your pajamas own home but the items are well-priced too.
On another topic, I love that local young models are being used for both their attitude and looks. I can vouch for both of these models that they have great style outside of the occasional modeling gig. Remember this girl?
Go take a look at their catalog of designers and support our local designers! I have my eyes on the James Dean roll-up shirt, naturally.
Finger in the nose
Stylish parents don't have to worry about kitting out their kids in cool clothes anymore. Sure, there are designer baby/kid stores available in major cities but for the average spender a fantastic label is now open online. Perfectly named: FINGER IN THE NOSE, they specialize in denim, quality gear and even leather goods. I want a kid just so I can make them look this cool.

CLose but no cigar!
Just as I was getting excited for the online release of what can easily become a financial burden for many, many men, these bee-yoo-ti-ful "Louis" Louboutin high-tops are now sold out. I imagine the huge anticipation of Christian Louboutin's mens range had something to do with this. Not everyone has access to European shopping. Ironic actually since that little old volcano problem has stopped anyone from going over.

Le sigh.
Fine and Dandy: Shipping Internationally
Fine and Dandy is a menswear label dedicated to an era where gentleman were more common and dressing up was a part of every day life. I told you about them before, you may recall.
I appreciate what they are doing over there because it's a way of reminding people where we came from. And where style itself originated from.
Lucky for you, they are now offering a free international shipping service through 1/22/2010 on orders of $100USD and up. Just use the code "MANOFCLOTH" and you're set!
This offer isn't usually available so scurry along before it's all gone...

Customize your clothing and shoes!
I'm all for customizing-- Taking something and turning it into an original by-product of it's former self. Why not? The world is an advanced place and such things are easy. Who says you can't wear $500 shoes and pair it with a shirt you bought at a second hand store? You can tear and cut and bedazzle the hell out of something so why not go a step further and customize your T-shirts or shoes as well? You can even do them without lifting a finger... well figuratively of course. You'll need a finger to click your mouse!
Nike came up with a great concept of customizing your trainers, which can be done at NIKEiD! Once you've selected colours, stripes and laces and what have you, your design gets uploaded onto their system and you get credit for said design. Here you can also buy your design and have them ship it to you.

As for shirts the same can be said for Shirtsmyway.com who boast 7 trillion options for your shirt design. Just remember that less is more! You might want to take a look at leading designers for inspiration on this one.

You may recall I mentioned that I often make my own T-shirts with a printer and transfer paper- it's easy and guarantees you will be the only one around with it.

Now you have no one to blame but yourself if you don't like your clothes!

Dsquared online store now open!
The fashion gods have answered my prayers. Well sort of. Dsquared2 who I love with all my heart have now opened an online store. They deliver worldwide but have possibly forgotten to add a little country called South Africa. We don't get Dsquared2 here anywhere and I'm desperate to fill up my wardrobe with some more of Dean and Dan.

The twins also shot a video to mark the opening and as if anyone is surprised they included a naked male model. Follow this link to get your 'shop on' and let me know of your successes! Go on now... shoo.

Back to School fashion
It's Back to school fashion time! A few online stores have sales going on too, and you're into cool t-shirt designs I found a couple on Uneetee's wesbite. What I remember from school (and we were allowed to wear anything we wanted, as in American schools) was that T-shirts were the statement pieces we were after. I always see young teens wearing blatant copies of their idols or peers and I'm still surprised to see these emo Afghan scarves are still being worn.

I heart D&G. I would happily be one of those people who endorse products and then are contractually obligated to wear only items from said designer. Like Missy Elliot, or did she just wear only Adidas? I digress. I would only wear D&G or Dsquared and be a happppy man. Seriously boys, if you're out there...
I stumbled upon this gorgeous, gorgeous bag which has my name written all over it. I've been carrying a black hold-all from Markhams for too long and need to upgrade pronto. If I'm carrying coffee and I fling it over my shoulder people (men) think it's a handbag.
I think I would look far more masculine with this bag:

YES PLEASE!

If you would be so kind...

Ah, the things we want in life. My father would argue that a functioning watch is all you need, regardless of how it looks. But this one is just so pretty! If anyone knows a guy, who knows a guy you can send me one- my birthday is around the corner! ;)
These watches are fast becoming popular on our shores, and they sell for roughly R2000 ($195). They come in a variety of different fun colours, and if you ask me the brighter the better. They contain tritium markers that glow in the dark so that even in a time of load-shedding one can look stylish-- and of course be able to tell the time!
Alternatively you can get this "cheapo pink" watch for 21.50 GBP from ASOS. There are hundreds of cool watches to choose from and in a day where fakes are running rampant who needs a ridiculously expensive watch until you can comfortably afford one? Fashion is not about the label or the price, rather how you carry it!
