Dolce and Gabanna - Live Webcast from Milan

At 1pm in Milan today the live webcast for the new Dolce and Gabanna show began. With vocal stylings from Annie Lennox and a row celebrities up-front, including the great Morgan Freeman. The runway was as virginal as the garments being worn by the models; a palette of mostly white, off-whites and beige. Of course Gandy, a Dolce and Gabanna staple was in Milan to join a choir of young Adonis'. The use of roping for belts and the rolling of sleeves is a trend to take note of gentleman!

Large flashy lapels, rolled up trouser legs and the normal army of tan and muscle appeared on stage at the Spring 2010 Dolce and Gabbana show. So while our Italian brothers release many of the expected looks , i.e pajama silk, glimmering dinner jackets and sockless models they included a few looks which take me immediately to how I imagine Sicilian men walked around in the 1940's.

With regards to the rolling up of some looks may the reader keep in mind that 3/4 pant legs without a roll of some kind are still not favorable.

D&G BOAT SHOES FOR LESS

Remember the D&G boat shoes I was fawning over a few days ago? Well my friends over at my-wardrobe sell a similar pair for just over a R1000 (77.00GBP). The brand is Superga and they come in a few colours too. I know YDE (The young designers emporium) sells a range of Superga shoes but I somehow doubt they thought to buy in this particular look.

Dolce & Gabanna are no prudes. Let's face it they have taken their Super brand and pumped it with Testosterone and sprinkled as much Homo eroticism on it as possible. So have Dsquared. They understand the raw desires of the male ego (straight or otherwise) in that we all want to look like a tanned Adonis in brand spanking new Briefs, or that perhaps we just expect to see such well chiseled beauties in the underwear. We don't want the truth, we don't want the effects of Christmas season diets and the after-flab.

Well it's that and of course Sex still sells above all mediums. Case and point in their new Ad Campaign for D&G Underwear.

The glorious thing about Fashion, I find, when it changes hopefully you do too. I was never a fan of boat shoes, but have recently coveted the above pair and hope to acquire them. Worn with carelessly rolled trousers or shorts is the way to go for me. It's simple, and perfect for Cape Town weather. I imagine this to be perfect weekend attire for your relaxed gentleman. It says a lot more about your style than a pair of Haviana's, don't you agree?

D&G Fall 09

If D&G were aiming to re-invent the early revolution with some amazing jackets they certainly hit the nail on the head. I am mesmerized by almost every one of them. Although I can appreciate the more formal tuxedo jackets I believe they were used in an almost annoying repetition-- and not limited to just their label. It kind of feels like they were doing this last season too, weren't they?

Let's just take a minute to focus on each of these beautifully constructed jackets, each of which I covet with a heavy heart! Oh, the detailing!
